This interactive website on SELCO created by an independent filmmaker has some really nicely made videos. Try and catch some of the stories to get the picture of what SELCO does, and how it does what it does, in the effort to reach those remote communities and households which seem to exist on the periphery of civilization.
The company is always hounded by these typical corporate and finance questions of: How will you scale? Where is the standardized model? How do we show impact to our financiers?
But this is where I'd say a real kudos to the philosophy of SELCO. It believes that in our effort to standardize and scale, we are leaving behind a lot of the poor and very poor, the far flung and the remote. Every branch of SELCO has a mission team whose job it is to scout out those most deprived and enable and facilitate a level of empowerment. The last mile reach as the story states.
I appreciate the level of hard work and enthusiasm of all members of the team. But couldn't you believe, some hidden interspersion acts behind these things.
