Trip to Udaipur and Mount Abu

You land in Udaipur, and you land into history.

The airport is called Maharana Pratap Airport, and it's got this imposing statue of Rana Pratap on horseback.

A city founded in the 1500's, and capital of the Mewar Dynasty. It's not just the grandeur of the palaces, but the city itself that's really picturesque.  Anywhere you look you'll see either a palace or a lake....plus the city itself is nestled into the Aravalli ranges.

It's also called the city of lakes. While the city has it's modern malls and new massive houses, it still retains the grandeur and beauty of it's past. Even the smallest of hotels, look like mini palaces, as they all erstwhile havelis converted into hotels.

It apparently has the tag of the "most romantic spot on the continent of India".  I guess the tag and the locales explains why it's become so sought after for destination weddings.

Rest in Pictures:

Had to catch the 'Maharana Pratap' airport even as I got off the flight :)

Fatehsagar Lake. Our place of stay, an air b&b was a few minutes walk from the lake.

We reached evening, so rest of day was walk and dinner by Fatehsagar lake.  (diksha asked why I was smiling while ammamma was eating :)
